St. John Lutheran Church: Services

****From now through September 5 (Labor Day weekend) our summer worship schedule is as follows:

8:00 & 10:30 services in the sanctuary only (traditional worship).

One contemporary service at 9:15 in the worship center.

No summer Sunday School for children.   Adult Bible classes are conducted at 9:15, in the sanctuary, and 10:30 in the worship center, led by the pastor who is not preaching that Sunday.

An informal Bible study/discussion led by Lyman & Marcia Thayer is also offered in the Gathering Place at 10:30.****

St. John conducts five worship services each week to provide a forum through which God can feed His people. Going to church is not something we do for God; it is something He put into our lives to edify us.

Among these five services are a variety of styles, ranging from traditional to blended to contemporary. We welcome you to join us for any of the services that best fits your needs!

Traditional worship is structured around the Lutheran Service Book using what it calls the Divine Service. Blended services are a variation on traditional services, using modern language and modified liturgies, as well as some non-hymn music. These services are held in the Sanctuary at the north end of the building.

Contemporary services are held in the Worship Center at the south end of the building. These services feature music led by various worship teams using contemporary style worship music and a more informal service layout.

The Sacrament of Holy Communion is observed during the first, third and fifth Sundays of each month and at appropriate special services, such as Easter.

Special Services

Special schedules are used in observing important church events, such as Ash Wednesday, Christmas and Easter.

Participation in Holy Communion

We uphold what the word of God teaches about Holy Communion; namely, that this is a special Meal and that those who participate understand and believe the following:

I believe I am a sinner and need God’s forgiveness. I believe in Jesus Christ as my personal Savior from sin. I believe that Christ is truly present in, with, and under the Bread and Wine, and gives me Himself and His forgiving love in this Meal.

If you are in agreement with our beliefs regarding the Lord’s Supper, we invite you to join us for communion. If you are uncertain about whether to commune, or if you have questions about communion, please arrange a time to talk to the pastor before communing.
