You may think of Scrip as exclusively a school fundraiser, but did you know that scrip benefits the church as well? After last school year, funds raised through scrip made a payment on staff health insurance benefits that otherwise would not have been possible! Please join us! What is Scrip? Scrip is basically gift cards or certificates you can purchase in the gym before or after church and redeem at local merchants. For example, get a $10 Scott’s card for $10 and redeem at Scott’s for $10 of groceries–no extra money out of your pocket! We raise money in that we have bought the cards in bulk at a discount. Find us in the gym today to learn more or to get started saving with Scrip!
Take this opportunity at the beginning of the new school year to become familiar with our scrip program. LOTS of great certificates are available for your daily purchases in local stores. INQUIRE AT THE SCRIP TABLE TODAY!

Scrip Guidelines 2009-10
- 50% of all SCRIP profit will be given to St. John Lutheran School. The remaining 50% will be given to the St. John fund of the purchaser’s choice.
- Funds available for purchasers to direct their 50% profit to include the following: School Funds: General Fund, Building Fund (new school), Tuition*, Lunch/Milk Bill, Extended Care Bill, Tuition Fund (financial assistance), Barr Tuition Fund Church Funds: General Fund, Building Fund (loan pay off), Benevolence.
- St. John School reserves the right to use a school family’s SCRIP profit toward payment of unpaid school bills before crediting the fund the family has chosen.
- SCRIP profit is determined by the vendor and is listed on the St. John SCRIP order form. Profit will always be given at the rate listed on the most recent SCRIP order form regardless of temporary promotional increases. Any profit gained from promotional adjustments will be credited to St. John School.
- SCRIP profit will be distributed twice annually.
- Profit from generic SCRIP will be attributed to the purchaser whenever possible.
- Payment is due upon request of SCRIP. Check or cash is accepted. Credit will be extended only with the permission of school administration or the SCRIP coordinators.
- Fees incurred from checks returned for insufficient funds will be charged to the purchaser. Any family that has three checks returned within one school year will be placed on a “no check” list and SCRIP will remain available for these families with cash payment only.
- SCRIP purchases are non-refundable with the following exceptions: –The balance of the card has been verified and remains at 100% of the purchase price. –The card has not been activated at the time of purchase. –The vendor no longer accepts SCRIP or has closed its doors without warning.
- SCRIP will not be delivered by mail under any circumstances.
- St. John SCRIP cannot be held responsible for lost or stolen items.
Aeropostale Joins Scrip! We are very excited to announce another new vendor, Aeropostale. Aeropostale is now available in denominations of $25 and will offer a 7% profit. Aeropostale is located in the Glenbrook Mall and is a popular store for trendy teen clothing. For those of you with teenagers or those looking for a gift for a teen, we hope this will be good way for you to get more of what you want through scrip! If you are not using scrip, check out how you can make your dollar go farther with scrip today–there’s an flier on the scrip bulletin board you can take which has more information. Check it out!
Meijer and Guitar Center are joining our scrip family! Meijer is offering a 4% profit, will be available in denominations of $20 and $50, and will be kept in stock. Meijer scrip does not replace the Meijer rewards credit card, so if you’ve been supporting our school that way, please continue to do so. However, if you shop at Meijer and were wishing for a way to help the school without signing up for a credit card, Meijer scrip is for you! Guitar Center scrip is available in denominations of $25, also with a 4% profit, but will be available at this time only through special order. Thanks for using.
•Scrip Vendors Profit Increase and Other News
Family Video’s profit has increased from 5% to 12%!!! To make this change, we had to eliminate the $5 card and go to exclusively to a $10 card though, sorry.
Hall’s Restaurants’ profit will be increasing from 5% to 10% with our next purchase!!! While this is exciting, it comes at the loss of their Community Partnership program, so if you had been using the Hall’s green plastic Community Partnership card, you can discard it.
PetSmart is now available in-stock. PetSmart offers a $25 denomination card with a profit of 4%.
