St. John Youth Ministry: Information

The School of Life has five main aspects. (It’s not as complicated as it looks.)

  • Activities
  • Service Projects
  • Small Groups
  • Bible Study
  • Worship

Activities

Once a month we host a large-group activity that’s purely for fun. We encourage youth to invite their friends. If you’re new, this is the event to come to first. It’s low-key, and we’ll make you feel at home.

Service Projects

Once a month, we’ll do some volunteer work for the community or the church. We like to have fun, but it’s important to help out others with our time and energy. It might be picking up trash or working at a soup kitchen. It might be moving furniture or helping out at the church’s Apple Fritter booth at the Apple Festival. It’s a practical way to put our faith into action.

Small Groups

Twice a month, youth meet in groups of five or six with an older leader. These are not Bible study groups. You might go to lunch with your leader; you might sit around a bonfire and talk. The point is to become part of a group who all believe in Jesus where you can have fun or ask hard questions.

Bible Study

Every Sunday morning there’s a Bible study for youth. Sometimes we tackle a whole book of the Bible. Other times we tackle a specific subject that interests everyone. Together, we listen to what God has written to us and try to figure out what it means today.

Worship

About once a quarter, we organize a youth-only worship event. This is not necessarily a tradition “worship service.” We try to include interactivity and technology in ways that you might not see much at the regular services. We want to create a time for the youth to worship God in ways they understand best.
